Who are we?
From our first practice in April 2006, London Rollergirls (LRG) has been a pioneering force for the growth of roller derby in the UK and Europe. As the first roller derby league to be established in the UK, LRG has continued to set precedence in the sport – from becoming the first European member of the international governing body of the sport, the Womens Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), through to our all star team, London Brawling, becoming the first team outside of the USA to play their way to the end of season championship tournament.
The league is made up of 3 travel teams. London Brawling, our ‘A’ team, who play against the top teams in the world and compete each year at the end of season playoffs to win a spot at Championships. Brawl Saints, our ‘B’ team, are a dominant force in the UK and Europe; and Batter C Power, our ‘C’ team, are the rising stars of LRG and compete with other A and B teams to climb the rankings table.
LRG is an amateur sports league run solely by the skaters and dedicated volunteers – all members are expected to contribute to the day-to-day running of the league. We also have extra support from non-member volunteers who contribute their time and expertise on a regular basis, for example through bench coaching our teams or officiating at practice and games; or for our events, as announcers, photographers or floor staff. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please get in touch here.
