About Us

From our first practice in April 2006, our league has been a driving force for the growth of flat track roller derby in the UK, and Europe.

We were the first roller derby league to be established in the UK and have continued to set precedents in the sport. In June 2010 we became the first European member to join the international governing body of the sport, the Womens Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In April 2011 we hosted the first WFTDA tournament held outside of the USA, Anarchy in the UK. Earning places and competing at WFTDA playoffs annually since 2011, our all star team, London Brawling, levelled up and were the first non-USA team to play at the end of season WFTDA championship tournament in 2013.

London Roller Derby is currently made up of 3 travel teams. London Brawling, our ‘A’ team, play against the top WFTDA teams in the world. Brawl Saints, our ‘B’ team, are a dominant force in the UK and Europe and Batter C Power, our ‘C’ team, are the rising stars of our league.

We are an amateur sports league run solely by the skaters and dedicated volunteers – all members are expected to contribute to the day-to-day running of the league. We also have extra support from non-member volunteers who contribute their time and expertise on a regular basis, for example through bench coaching our teams or officiating at practice and games; or for our events, as announcers, photographers or floor staff.

Return-to-Play Statement

London Roller Derby is back on track!

Like lots of people, London Roller Derby took a break during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though we are returning to derby, we acknowledge that Covid is still with us, and there is a degree of risk involved in a contact sport played indoors. Current measures involve asking everyone to test before attending training. Tests are shared amongst the league when available, and anyone who cannot afford to purchase can request a test from the directors. During training we keep doors open for ventilation.

If you would like to be part of our league but are worried because you are at greater risk of illness from Covid, please get in touch so we can talk about how you can engage in a way that makes you feel safe.
